Print Of The Month - September

This month for print of the month we have an announcement to make. Copymaster filaments are coming to Hueforge!

For those of you that are not familiar with Hueforge. Hueforge is a software that uses a technique called filament painting to make detailed prints without requiring a multi-material 3D printer. Any printer that supports pausing at a specific layer height can use Hueforge, but it is much more easy on printers that have multi material systems such as the Anycubic Kobra 3, Creality K2 Plus or any Bambu Labs printer with an AMS.

Hueforge has a very clever way of layering up multiple colours on top of each other and using the transparency of the filament to blend the colours together to create complex details, tones and colour blends that would otherwise not be possible.

We think the results speak for themselves! And you can see more examples and purchase Hueforge from there website via the link below: https://shop.thehueforge.com/

If you want more detailed guides on how it works and what's possible, check out the teaching tech guide on how it all works and there are some more detailed tutorials on the Hueforge Youtube channel.

We have been working hard to go through the new Copymaster PLA in the last few weeks making sure the transmission distance for each filament is calibrated in Hueforge. When testing, we found that the Matte filaments in the Copymaster range were too opaque to blend effectively and have a good effect in Hueforge, so we have calibrated the PLA, PLA turbo and if you want to experiment with something a bit different, the Glow in the dark PLA.

We have already passed this information onto the creator of Hueforge so these filaments will be pre-supported in the next update. This means that if you have any Copymaster PLA and want to use Hueforge as of the next update all of these filaments will be pre-supported and calibrated as standard saving you time and effort and allowing you to get straight to creating some awesome prints. You can find all the filaments that will be supported on the links below.

So this Month, we wanted to share with you one of our favourite test prints we did when we were calibrating the filament.

The original picture for this print was found online and we picked it because it looked like it would be a nice example for this colour combination. And after running it through Hueforge we think it gave a really nice, Old Western effect. The filaments we used for this one if you want to re-create this effect were, PLA Black and White for the dark and light tones, and for the brown mid tones we used Espresso for the darker brown and Latte for the lighter brown. We think this really suits this style as it gives a really nice old photo or wanted poster effect. For these prints we used a 0.4mm nozzle and a 0.08mm layer height, because thin layers matter a lot with this kind of print for the best possible quality and colour transitions.

Let us know if you have made any Hueforge prints with the Copymaster filaments! We would love to see the results you get!
